First Day(s) of Kindergarten!

Here are all the exciting activities in which the new kindergarteners participated on their first day of school (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!).  I am looking forward to having our entire class together on Thursday.

Here are our Day One Kindergarteners :)

Sorting capital and lower case letters

We read The Line-Up Book and then lined up these bear counters in various patterns.

We practiced reading and saying one another's names and then wrote "I am ... " sentences with our own names.

Our Science lesson focused on making play-dough!  Fun :)

For Math, we read The Little Engine that Could and talked about perseverance.  We practiced saying "I think I can."  This will be a theme throughout our year in kindergarten... developing a growth mindset.  The kids created images using the shape puzzles.

After snack, the kids practiced using one another's names again by reciting "Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candlestick" using each student's name.

I hope that you enjoy seeing moments in our day.  More to come!
