April

We have had a very busy month.  On Friday, April 1, Isabelle showed us the rock samples that she collected on her 5th grade Outdoor Education field trip.  It is a two-day field trip and I actually accompanied her on March 31 to the Barrick Quarry and High Rock (Penn Mar).  In the blink of an eye, these Kinders will be in fifth grade going on this same trip!

We were so excited to welcome Dads to our classroom :)

Another member of the Shoe-Tying Club! :)

We welcomed UHS Lacrosse Team members, Cullin and Tyler, to our classroom.  They read stories to us and then answered LOTS of questions ;) as well as showed us pictures.

Tyler's twin brother and friend Dylan were next door and they came by to visit as well.

Subtraction Bowling on Pajama Day!

Our visit to the Ag Bus was so interesting.  We learned about Maryland blue crabs and then made pendants to remind us about the characteristics of the Chesapeake Bay.

What a glorious day to have our "extra" recess for earning 200 Soaring with Pride stickers.  We went out to the "big" kids' playgrounds in the back of the school.

Our tadpoles arrived on April 12.

We took a gallery walk through the UES Science Fair.

Life cycle of the frog :)

Earth Day visit with our Buddies.  We decorated bags that were sent to Giant to encourage patrons to BE GREEN.

Be still my heart ;)

Thank so you much to our parent volunteers who presented for Career Day.  The kids really enjoyed the presentations and were full of stories when I got back to school ;)

Another subtraction activity... we read Who Stole the Cookies From the Cookie Jar and then recreated scenarios for our partners to solve.  The kids had to cover their eyes when their partner was "stealing" the cookies and then solve for the missing subtrahend.
SMART COOKIES we have here in Kindergarten!

Character Counts winners.

My oldest daughter came to school for TYCTWD.  They kids all asked me if she could come back on Friday!  ;)

In addition to caring for and observing tadpoles and caterpillars, we have also planted seeds!

So much coming in up May.  I will send out the May/June Kindergarten newsletter through email.
