Early October

Get ready for the mother-load of pictures.  These took almost an hour to upload ;)
So many exciting things going on in Kindergarten!

Literacy Centers

Math Rotations
(continuing our practice of identifying and sorting items according to attributes)

Morning Carpet Time
(between 8:30 and 8:55 am)

More Literacy Centers

Writing

Notice those capital letters to begin sentences and the periods at the ends of sentences!  :)

One of our friends went on a trip and wrote a book about his travels.  He generously shared it with us and let us keep it in the front bookcase for a week so that everyone could have a turn GENTLY looking at it ;)

Here are their completed Rainbow Fish from last week on display in the hallway.

Friday Computer Lab
The kids completed a sorting activity on Pixie and then created their own version.

Math
Now that they are so adept at identifying attributes, I taught them how to make an attribute train.

Sorting the same nine items  in three different ways according to three different attributes... complete with some scissors practice, coloring and a great big pile for the recycling can!

Application Centers

I can't believe that it is time for apple and leaves books!  How is it already October?

I put this image on Twitter this past week... another benefit of our classroom iPad is being able to "research" topics that appear in our Reading Group books ;)

I was FINALLY Star of the Day!

For a few short weeks, everyone in the class is 5 (until our first two 6-year-old birthdays at the end of this month)

As part of our Social Studies until about Fire Safety, the kids worked on books that they brought home last Friday.

Our Third Grade Buddies came for a visit!  We had so much fun playing a get-to-know-you game with COOTIE CATCHERS and then reading to one another.  We are looking forward to our next visit with our Buddies this coming Wednesday.

This is a playaway that I checked our from the public library.  I can't keep up!  They love them.

Our first field trip to the Urbana Fire Station

Mrs. R came to visit us again last week.  The kids participated in an activity stretching and developing their memories.

Word Ring :)

UES Fun Run

Literacy Centers after the Fun Run ;)

The kids' first "Write the Room" activity.  It was actually "Color the Room" this time but a great first time practice for them.

And finally, for this post, we began an activity that will continue into next week... back to Counting and Cardinality in Math with Apples to maintain some interdisciplinary lessons with Science and Math.
