I have been trying since Sunday to download all these pictures from my phone! My old computer is such a grouch and she is VERY temperamental! She doesn't like my phone! ;)
Science
Miss Daisy was helping the kids with their "Sink or Float" experiments. We talked about density, buoyancy and the distribution of water.
Mrs. R came for another lesson and this time we explored our Spatial Reasoning. The kids were shown a shape to make with the blocks for just a few seconds and then given time to explore and try to replicate the shape. We were able to do several similar activities in the days that followed.
In the computer lab, we drew ourselves and then "measured" ourselves .... the kids were allowed to choose the unit of measurement and they helped me choose tens frames and the letter S to determine how tall I am ;)
Chrome books in the classroom are such a welcome addition to our technology availability. The following pictures are ones that I snapped during Literacy Centers.
Recess!
A favorite activity of the kids is Write the Room. Here they are measuring various objects with measuring sticks they made out of counting cubes.
Discovery Table during Application Centers :)
Cup Construction
One of the new math games the kids learned this month... using both counting skills and concepts pertaining to measuring weight using a "scale."
Measuring length (and Miss Daisy was back!)
Our Buddies came for another activity
Happy Thanksgiving hats!
I was pretty impressed with myself painting 25 hands (one student was absent) and decorating the turkeys in ONE day! ;)
Monkeys!
We learned about a Pumkin Chunkin machine and how pumpkins are chosen to shoot.
Then we learned how to churn butter.
And then we visited these darling sheep.
Dancing to one of our favorite songs... this is the nap portion ;)
After Thanksgiving, we interviewed one another to find out if
A Science experiment... separation of colors.
Inside recess ;)
Measuring the weight of objects
Poor Happy Hawk! No one likes to be weighed in public! Especially at this time of year ;)
Another computer lab task... identifying and illustrating items that are taller than we are and shorter than we are. Daisy is one of my dogs ;)
In the computer lab yesterday, we used Pebble Go to learn about five different holidays that our classmates celebrate during the month of December.
We are looking forward to many fun activities in the month of December!
