We had a great day on Thursday. We had earned our 30th Soaring with Pride sticker on Wednesday and so enjoyed celebrating throughout the day. In addition, we earned FIVE more stickers on Thursday so we are off to a great start for our next 30!
The kids had their first Weather Drill on Thursday morning and were amazing. So quiet and well behaved. I was very proud of them. We came back in the room and celebrated with two of our favorite songs! I wish I thought to break out my camera. These kids have got some moves!
Our fourth Phonics lesson went very well and the kids are doing a terrific job adjusting to this new routine of instruction, questioning and answering and then written practice. Thank you for taking the time to review these papers with them as they come home throughout the year in the red folders.
We had an EXTRA recess in the morning on Thursday. Wahoo! At lunchtime, the kids were treated to "Music Friday" as I could hear "Call Me Maybe" blasting down the hallway ;)
In Writing, we practiced our "Turn and Talk" technique and the kids shared the books that they had written. Listeners were instructed to ask two questions and then offer one idea. What great conversations I observed! They then went to their tables to put the finishing touches on their books. This was a four-day process and I am proud of them for working so hard.
Mrs. Fike came to our class to give us a lesson about her role in the school and about being a good helper. This lesson is a great follow-up to our Social Studies lesson two weeks ago about being a "Handy Helper."
After Mrs. Fike's visit, we had GAME DAY for our Math lesson. I finally thought to get out my camera! Loads of fun!
We then started our first day of Application Centers Round 2. Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves and a special shout-out goes to Cody's grandmother who MADE us three clumps of PLAY-DOUGH!
I'm off to the first of five games today... one is mine (tennis match) so at least I can get some exercise in between all the bleacher sitting! Have a great weekend!
